We are delighted to welcome back to this fabulous venue the Big R Big Band. This band never disappoint and keep the floor busy all night long with cracking swing tunes.

Led by Bristol's best dressed drummer, the 16 piece Big R Big Band are firm favourites with the Bristol swing dance crowd. Frequent performers at the Slapstick and Harbourside festivals, as well as the regular Bristol swing events that happen in the city, Big R can also be found swinging across the rest of the West Country. Dashing, debonair, dandy and dapper, the classic swing tunes of the 30's and 40's are looking, and sounding, pretty damn good.

First formed in 2010, playing classic Big Band music, in particular the swing music of the 30's and 40's. Watch any footage of Lindy Hop dancers and you will see Lindy Turns, Swing Outs and Circles. They are iconic and what make Lindy Hopping such fun. They make it look so easy and smooth. Once mastered these moves will become effortless and make your dancing more joyful. In this two hour workshop we will break the steps down, explain how to read the lead so you never miss a Swing Out. We will teach the Leads how to communicate this iconic move clearly and we will show the Follows how to get the right connection.

This workshop is aimed at Beginner Plus / Improver Level or Intermediates who just want to tighten up their technique.
The 2 Hours will cover Swing Outs from Closed, Lindy Turns and Lindy Circles. We will give you a few footwork variations but the main focus is on getting the flow, connection and technique of the basics. We will stop for breaks in between so bring plenty of refreshments. No partner needed as we will rotate the class.
